তোমার জন্য কষ্টে আছি দেশ,
পাহাড় ভাঙা ধোঁয়া কুণ্ডলী ওঠে,
ডায়নামাইটে বহমানতার রেশ,
কাশ্মীর বাঁচে রাইফেলে, আখরোটে।

তোমার জন্য কষ্টে আছি দেশ,
সাদা পায়রার বিক্ষত দেহ লাল,
উপদ্বীপ জুড়ে অ-সুখের সন্দেশ,
ক্ষুদার্ত পেট, মহার্ঘ্য ভাত-ডাল।

তোমার জন্য স্বাধীনতা শব্দটা
বিষ বিশ ধরে কারাবাস করে যাপন,
তোমার কোলেই ভারতীয় হয়ে ওঠা,
সুদিনের সাথী দুঃসময়ের আপন।

তুমি সেরে ওঠো শস্যশ্যামলা দেশ,
মাথা তুলে বলো, আমি মৃত্যুঞ্জয়ী,
নব অঙ্কুরে সালোকসংশ্লেষ,
বর্ণিল হবে আবার বর্ণময়ী।
