লিসা গর্টন

লিসা গর্টনের জন্ম অস্ট্রেলিয়ার মেলবোর্ন শহরে। ইউনিভার্সিটি অব মেলবোর্ন থেকে সাহিত্য নিয়ে স্নাতক হওয়ার পর তিনি লন্ডনের অক্সফোর্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ডক্টরেট করেন। কাজের সূত্রে বহু বছর সাউথ আফ্রিকায় কাটিয়ে দেশে ফেরেন তিনি ২০০৭ সালে। সে বছরই প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয় তাঁর সাড়াজাগানো কবিতা সংকলন ‘প্রেস রিলিজ’। বইটি ভিক্টোরিয়ান প্রিমিয়ারস লিটারারি অ্যাওয়ার্ড ও ভিনসেণ্ট বাক্লে পোয়েট্রি অ্যাওয়ার্ডে সম্মানিত। ইতিমধ্যেই প্রকাশিত হয়েছে তাঁর আরও কিছু কবিতার বই, উপন্যাস এবং শিশুসাহিত্যের সংকলন।

স্বপ্ন ও তার নিদর্শন

ধৈর্য ধরে টিকিট কেটে একজন একজন করে ভিড়টাএগিয়ে চলল দেওয়ালের গায়ে লাগানোজাহাজের নকল কাঠামো বরাবর–ঠিক যেন তারা এগিয়ে চলেছেঅন্য কারোর আঁকা বা বোনা স্বপ্নের অভ্যন্তর! জানালাবিহীন সেই পরিকাঠামোর মধ্যেই পরে রয়েছে পুরনো কিছু প্লাস্টিকের বোতল,ছোটখাটো আসবাবপত্র, বাতিদান, কচ্ছপের চামড়া দিয়ে বানানো চিরুনি, হাতির দাঁতেরতৈরি আয়না, ঝুটো মুক্তর পিন দিয়ে সযত্নে আটকানো রত্নখোচিত হার। এই সবকিছুই হয়তো আমার– অন্তত সারা জীবনে দেখা বহু স্বপ্নের সম্মিলিত সব খাপছাড়ার!এই জিনিসগুলো দুঃখ কাকে বলে জানে না–কিছু হারানোর কষ্ট কোনোদিন পায়নি!এদের তুলে আনা হয়েছে এমন কোনো জায়গা থেকেযেখানে ‘স্মৃতি’ শব্দটির মানেই আসলেভীষণ রকম নিরর্থক!

যেখানে সমুদ্র উদ্দামহীন প্রলয়েআছড়ে পড়ছে তার নিজের কর্মকাণ্ডের জটিলতায়ঠিক সেইখান দিয়েই উঠে গেছে একটা সিঁড়ি।তার প্রতিটি ধাপে বেড়ে ওঠা মরচের দাগগুলোজমে জমে আজ আস্ত একখানি মালা।আসলে কিছুই নয়,এটি সমুদ্রের সামান্য কিছু জঠোরজ্বালার নিদর্শন;জংধরা এই বেদনারা যেন কুঁচকে যাওয়া আগামীর কথন!দেখলাম,টুকরো টুকরো করে সিঁড়িটি কেমনভাবে ফিরে চলেছেতার একান্ত স্বপ্নের আঙিনায়!

পাশের ঘরে ওরা একটা সিঁড়ি বানিয়েছেহুবহু একটা পুরনো আমলের ছবিকে অনুকরণ করে।সিঁড়িটির কোনো গন্তব্য নেই।বা হয়তো, তা এক পা এক পা করে উঠে গেছে সেই বাড়ির ভিতরে,যেখানে কিছুই তখনও হারায়নি।তার একতলার বাঁকে আজও শোভা পাচ্ছেকোন কালে বন্ধ হয়ে যাওয়া দম দেওয়া ঘড়ি–যার দুটো হাত থমকে রয়েছেইতিহাসের আনাগোনার আগের মুহূর্তে।আমরা আসলে ক্ষমা করতে পারি তাদেরকেইযাদের উপর বোধহয় থাকে আমাদের একান্ত নিজেদের অধিকার!এই সিঁড়ি বেয়ে আসলে ওঠা যায় না কোথাও–নরম দড়ি দিয়ে আটকানো থাকে সবসময়তার সর্বপ্রথম ধাপ।

যখন বেড়িয়ে এলাম রাস্তায়,দেখি বৃষ্টি পড়ছে।বড় বড় সব বৃষ্টির ফোঁটারা দুমড়েমুচড়ে এসে ঝাঁপিয়ে নামছে ফুটপাথেঠিক যেন নামকরণ ছাড়া কোনও স্বপ্নেরআশ্চর্য এক নিভৃত উজ্জ্বলতা!ওদিকে, আকাশে তখন চলছেকাল্পনিক সব শহরদের ভাঙাগড়ার পালা -ধীরে ধীরে নেমে আসছে ঐতিহাসিক নাটকের যবনিকা বজ্রগর্ভ মেঘেদের গুরুগম্ভীর হুঙ্কারে! দুঃখের বিষয় কেবল একটাই–এসবই ঘটে চলেছে লোকচক্ষুর অন্তরালে। 

একটি প্রণয়ঘটিত ব্যাপার

 সেটাই ছিল আমাদের শেষ অবৈধ সপ্তাহান্ত।কিছুটা শ্রান্ত, আর বেশ অনেকটা পরিশ্রান্ত হয়েইনীল পাহাড়ি চরাচর পেরিয়েহয়তো পাড়ি দিয়েছিলাম তাই অন্য কোনো গোপনে।হঠাৎ পাকারাস্তার উপরেই টের পেলামভীষণ উষ্ণ হয়ে উঠছে আমাদেরএকান্তে নিভৃত বনেট! হুউউউশ— আমাদের ইঞ্জিনে কি তবে বাসা বাঁধলবৃহদাকার কোনো তিমি মাছ?বুঝতে না পেরে বা আরও একটু জানব বুঝব বলেই অপেক্ষা করতে থাকি গাড়িতেই—যতক্ষণ না অন্যান্য সব গতিবেগ পেরিয়ে যায় আমাদের পেছনে ফেলে—আবার!
