স্প্যানিশ সাহিত্যের অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কবি। নিজেকে ‘অ্যান্টি পোয়েট’ হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করতেন পাররা। দীর্ঘ ৭০ বছর ধরে আটলান্টিক মহাসাগরের দু’পারে তাঁর কবিতা জনপ্রিয়। তাঁর কবিতা গোটা পৃথিবীতেই ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। নোবেল প্রাপ্তির তালিকায় চারবার শর্ট লিস্টেট ছিলেন তিনি। কিন্তু, শেষ অব্দি নোবেল পুরস্কার পাননি। ২০১১ সালে স্প্যানিশ ভাষার সেরা সাহিত্য সম্মান Premio Cervantes পান। ১৯৮৯ সালে ‘বিশ্ব কবিতা উৎসবে’ যোগ দিতে ভারতে এসেছিলেন নিকানোর পাররা। ১০৩ বছর বয়সে প্রয়াত হন।
