শংকর চক্রবর্তী: ষাটের দশকে বিরল ধারার যে কবিগোষ্ঠী আমাদের উদ্দীপ্ত করেছেন, যাঁদের সীমিত আয়ুরেখা আমাদের মনে স্থায়ী দাগ রেখে গেছে, সেই সুব্রত চক্রবর্তী, ভাস্কর চক্রবর্তী, শামসের আনোয়ারের পর বুদ্ধদেব দাশগুপ্তও আজ ভোরে, ১০ জুন বিদায় নিলেন। ঘটনাচক্রে এঁরা পরস্পরের ঘনিষ্ঠ বন্ধু ছিলেন। তবে ‘কফিন কিংবা স্যুটকেস’-এর স্রষ্টা কিন্তু কবিতা লেখার পাশাপাশি একজন আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতিমান পরিচালক হিসেবেও নিজেকে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছেন। যার শুরু ‘দূরত্ব’ থেকে, শেষ ‘উড়োজাহাজ’-এ পৌঁছে। তাঁর কবিতা ও সৃষ্ট ছবিগুলো যেন মিলেমিশে একাকার হয়ে গেছে। চলচ্চিত্রের এই ব্যতিক্রমী ভাষা তিনি কবিতার মতোই আরোহণ করেন সার্থকভাবে। ন্যারেটিভ ধারার সম্পূর্ণ বিপরীতে তাঁর চলচ্চিত্রের অবস্থান। সর্বতোভাবেই কবিতার মতো চিত্রকল্প ঘুরেফিরে আসতো তাঁর ছবিতে। যা একান্তই চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাণের নিজস্ব ভঙ্গি।

পুরুলিয়ার রেল শহরে তাঁর জন্ম। বাবা ছিলেন রেলের চিকিৎসক। আর তিনি কলকাতায় পড়াশোনা শেষ করে, অর্থনীতির শিক্ষক হিসেবে প্রথমে বর্ধমান বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শ্যামসুন্দর কলেজে তাঁর কর্মজীবন শুরু। তারপর একসময় কবিতাকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে সম্পূর্ণভাবেই অন্য ধারার সিনেমা তৈরির ব্যাপারে নিজেকে যুক্ত করে নেন। বিভিন্ন ছবিতে তাঁর ছেলেবেলার পুরুলিয়া ঘুরেফিরে নতুন নতুন রূপে উপস্থিত হতে দেখি। সেখানকার লোকসংস্কৃতি, জনজীবন―এইসব। চৌরঙ্গীর এক পুরনো বাড়িতে তাঁর ‘আনোয়ার কা আজব কিসসা’ ছবিটির শুটিং-এ একবার তাঁর সঙ্গী হওয়ার সৌভাগ্য হয়েছিল। সে এক বিপুল অভিজ্ঞতা। তাঁর পড়ছি নিয়মিত। ‘দূরত্ব’ থেকে ছবি দেখাও শুরু করে দিয়েছি।

আর বুদ্ধদার সঙ্গে প্রথম মুখোমুখি হই ১৯৮৬ সালে কলকাতা ফিল্মোৎসবে। সেই শুরু। শেষের দিকে শারীরিক ভাবে অসুস্থ পড়েছিলেন। নিয়মিত ডায়লিসিস নিতে হতো তাঁকে। কিন্তু ছবি তৈরির ব্যাপারে মশগুল থাকতেন সর্বক্ষণ। শেষ ছবি ‘উড়োজাহাজ’ তৈরির সময় জামশেদপুরের কাছে আউটডোর শুটিংয়ে কী পরিশ্রমটাই না তাঁকে করতে হয়েছিল! নিয়মিত ডায়লিসিস নেওয়া ও আউটডোর শুটিং চালিয়ে যাওয়া― এ শুধু এই আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতিমান পরিচালকের পক্ষেই সম্ভব। যাঁর অন্তরে শুধু ছবি ও কবিতা মিলেমিশে জাল বুনে যেত। আর, বলাবাহুল্য, তাঁর শিরদাঁড়া নমনীয় হতে দেখিনি কখনো। শুধু দুঃখ এই যে, আমার অসুস্থতার খবর পেয়ে যিনি হাসপাতালে ছুটে এসেছিলেন, তাঁকে শেষ শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে যেতে পারলাম না। এই অতিমারি আমাদের অমানুষ করে তুলছে ক্রমশ।
