নীল রঙের বাড়ি

ঝলমলে সূর্যের রাত্রি। গহীন অরণ্যে দাঁড়িয়ে আমি দেখছি অস্পষ্ট হয়ে যাওয়া নীল দেওয়ালের বাড়ি। যেন এইমাত্র মৃত্যু হয়েছে আমার আর বাড়িটাকে নতুন কোণ থেকে দেখছি আমি।

অশীতিপর গ্রীষ্ম দেখে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে বাড়িটা। কাঠগুলো ফুলে উঠেছে চারভাগ ফুর্তি আর তিনভাগ বিষাদ নিয়ে। কোনও বাসিন্দা মারা গেলে এ বাড়ির নতুন রং হয়। রং করেন মৃত নিজেই, ব্রাশহীন, ভেতরের দিক থেকে।

মুখোমুখি মাঠ। ছিল উদ্যান, এখন প্রান্তর। আগাছায় ভরে গিয়েছে, আগাছার প্যাগোডা, পাঠ্যক্রমের শরীর, আগাছার উপনিষদ, যেন আগাছার ভাইকিং নৌসেনা, ড্রাগনের মুণ্ডু, বর্শা, সে এক আগাছার রাজধানী!

বাগানের ওপর একটা বুমেরাঙের ছায়া ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে, ঘুরঘুর করছে। এর যোগাযোগ রয়েছে আমার জীবৎকালের বহু আগে ফুরিয়ে যাওয়া এ বাড়ির কোনও বাসিন্দার সঙ্গে। প্রায় বালক। তার আবেগজর্জর, কোনও চিন্তা, অদম্য ইচ্ছায় জেগেছে: ‘জন্ম দাও… আঁকো…’ সময় মতো ওকে পালিয়ে বাঁচতে দাও নিয়তি থেকে।

বাড়িটা দেখতে ঠিক শিশুর আঁকা ছবির মতো। একটা হতাশ ছেলেবেলা সামনে আসে কারণ আগে থেকে শৈশবের অভিযোগ উড়িয়ে দিয়েছিল কেউ। দরজা খোলো, ভেতরে ঢোকো! ভেতরের কার্নিশে অস্থিরতা আর দেয়ালে ছড়িয়েছে প্রশান্তি। বিছানার মাথায় সতেরোখানা পালওয়ালা একটা জাহাজের ছবি টাঙানো, দুরন্ত সমুদ্র আর হাওয়ায় পাকিয়ে ওঠা ঢেউয়ের স্তম্ভকে কিছুতেই পোষ মানাতে পারছে না ওই শৌখিন ঠুনকো ফ্রেম।

এখানে সবাই খুব ব্যস্ত। রাস্তা পেরনোর আগে, অস্ফুট পছন্দগুলোর আগে এ জীবনের জন্য কৃতজ্ঞতা! যদিও আমি মিস করি বিকল্পগুলোকে। সমস্ত আঁকিবুঁকি বাস্তব হতে চায়।

জলের ওপরে একটা মোটরগাড়ি বাড়িয়ে দেয় গ্রীষ্মরাত্রির দিকচক্রবাল। শিশিরের আতসকাচে ফুর্তি ও বিষাদ ফেঁপে ওঠে। আমরা আসলে কেউ জানতে পারি না, কিন্তু টের পাই: আমাদের জীবনে এক সহোদরা জাহাজ আছে, যে সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা রাস্তা বুনে চলে। যখন সূর্য পুড়ছে ওই দ্বীপের পেছনে।
